Olio App
Olio is an app that tackles the climate crisis by solving the problem of waste in the home and local community. It does this by connecting people with their neighbours so they can give away rather than throw away their spare food and other household items, and lend and borrow everyday items instead of buying brand new.
Over 7 million people have joined the Olio community and together they’ve shared over 150 million portions of food and 10 million household items. This has had an environmental impact equivalent to taking over 500 million car miles off the road, and has saved over 22 billion litres of water.
Olio generates revenues thanks to the service it provides to supermarkets, corporate canteens, TV production companies and more, whereby Olio dynamically matches over 100,000 volunteers to individual locations, and those volunteers collect surplus food from those locations and redistribute it to their local communities.
Olio’s impact has been widely recognised, most notably by the United Nations who highlighted Olio as a “beacon” for the world, and by Vivatech who awarded Olio “Next European Unicorn”.
Olio has raised over $50 million in venture capital financing.
