For a decade, the UK’s Open Bionics has partnered with the American amputee community, establishing 12 clinics and 500 partners across the US. The company’s Hero RGD™ is the world’s only fully waterproof bionic arm, built from nylon and titanium to carry up to 77 lbs. This British engineering innovation is restoring strength and independence to US amputees, from veterans to farmers, in collaboration with American clinical experts.
Revolutionising cancer care from orbit
When UK pioneering biotech meets US space infrastructure, they launch a revolution in cancer care. UK start-up BioOrbit is leveraging the microgravity environment of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to crystallise cancer antibodies in ways impossible on Earth. Atlantic Studios is a world-leading creative studio committed to enhancing people’s understanding of the real world. This UK-based studio is currently collaborating with US tech giants Google, Meta, and Apple to establish use cases for their AR and VR headsets. The Premier League’s popularity in America has grown significantly over the last decade, with the NBC Sports broadcast deal being instrumental in reaching a wider audience. The Premier League Summer Series has delivered thrilling pre-season matches to fans in the US while American investment in the League continues to grow – with US ownership at 11 out of 20 Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
New technology saving US lives
When British tech meets American first responders, lives are saved. UK-founded What3Words, a geo-locations platform, is assisting US emergency services. The technology divides the world into a grid of squares, each with a unique three-word code. This innovation helped the Los Angeles City Fire Department rescue over 170 lost and injured hikers. When American drone technology meets British clinical integration, they launch the future of healthcare logistics. Wing, a leading US drone technology company, and Apian, a UK clinical integration specialist, are deploying autonomous drone delivery across the UK’s NHS.
