In this campaign, twelve members of the UK LGBTQIA+ community share their intimate, personal stories with us. Each of them reference an object or objects that represent a pivotal moment of time in their lives, when they felt included, seen and a part of a bigger community.
Great Love takes centre stage
"It was making the BBC docu-series Queer Britain that helped me embrace my queer identity."
Great Love can be found in your mum’s makeup bag
"I grew up in a small town where until then no-one had ever seen a boy in make-up."
Great Love never quits
"I’m proud that being part of the LGBTQIA+ community has allowed me to be a role model and to represent."
Great Love starts with me
"Even though I was in love with a man, I didn’t fully understand being part of the UK LGBTQIA+ community until later in life."
Great Love shouts from the newstand
"When Attitude launched, it was the first time I’d seen positive representation of LGBTQIA+ life in the media."
Great Love has many voices
"The LGBTQIA+ community is greater than the sum of its parts; the huge diversity within the UK scene often goes unmentioned."
Great Love lights up the dancefloor
"We used to DJ at a club night in Leeds in the UK called Speed Queen. It felt like heaven when you walked in through the doors."
Great Love dances to its own tune
"My parents were always really supportive of my queerness, even whilst I was still exploring it myself."
Great Love has the power to heal
"I felt Trans at an early age, but it took me a long time to appreciate my identity."
Great Love is invincible
“I became a lawyer to represent the LGBTQIA+ community before same-sex marriage rights were enshrined in the UK.”
