Great Love is invincible

Dr Chelvan is a globally recognised legal expert on refugees and human rights. He’s been an out gay man since his early 20s, practicing in the field of LGBTQIA+ asylum since 2001. In his story, he talks about how the peacock feather colour scheme at his wedding was symbolic in helping him feel the invincibility that comes from being loved.

“After civil partnerships were made legal in 2005, my husband Mark and I got hitched and we chose the peacock feather as our colour scheme for our wedding. In Hinduism, the peacock represents good luck and immortality, and we wanted to celebrate the feeling of invincibility that comes from being loved.”
